Bob Petrich
Group Facilitator / Peer Recovery Specialist
Bob, a Group Facilitator and Peer Recovery Specialist at Untethered Recovery,
holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Education in Counseling
Psychology and is currently pursuing certification in Colorado as an Addiction Technician.
Bob is a retired Army Colonel who served as an anti-tank platoon leader with the 2nd
Infantry Division in Korea and later as a rifle platoon leader with the 101st Airborne
Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While in Korea, he witnessed the effects of the
heroin epidemic within his own unit as it spread through the U.S. Army near the end of
the Vietnam War. He later served as the Counterdrug Coordinator for the Missouri
National Guard.
Drawing on his personal experience in recovery, Bob shifted his focus from drug
enforcement to treatment and recovery. He integrates skills from evidence-based
therapies to help clients regulate themselves without relying on the numbing effects of
alcohol and other drugs. His own recovery was strengthened through connection with a
community of people in recovery, and he continues to grow by supporting others on their
path.
When not at work, Bob enjoys writing in multiple genres and exploring creativity through
songwriting and visual art, including work created with artificial intelligence. He also
tests his fitness on hikes of varying difficulty.
