Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about treatment?
Here you’ll find answers to common questions about our mental health and substance use treatment programs, services, and recovery support options.
- 01Yes. Many clients entering treatment experience both substance use and mental health challenges at the same time, also known as co-occurring disorders or dual diagnosis. Untethered Recovery works with clients experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, mood disorders, stress-related challenges, and other mental health symptoms alongside addiction and recovery-related issues. Our treatment approach focuses on supporting the whole person by addressing both mental health and substance use together through therapy, case management, recovery support, and individualized treatment planning.
- 02Untethered Recovery offers multiple levels of care depending on each client’s individual needs and stage of recovery. PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program): Our highest level of outpatient care, offering structured programming and support several days per week for clients needing intensive treatment and accountability. IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program): A structured treatment program with fewer weekly hours than PHP, allowing clients to continue building recovery skills while balancing work, school, or other responsibilities. Virtual IOP services may also be available for eligible clients. OP (Outpatient Program): A lower level of care focused on ongoing support, relapse prevention, and maintaining long-term recovery stability. We also offer individual therapy, case management services, medication management support, and structured housing support based on each client’s needs. Our clinical team works closely with clients to determine the most appropriate level of care and may recommend adjustments throughout treatment as recovery progresses.
- 03Our Peer Support Services are provided by certified Peer Recovery Specialists - people with lived experience in recovery who walk alongside clients as guides while offering encouragement, accountability, and guidance. A Peer Recovery Specialist may assist clients with community resources, recovery planning, goal setting, support meetings, coping skills, and building healthy routines and support systems. Many clients find peer support very helpful in reducing isolation and building confidence throughout their recovery and healing journey.
- 04Peer support helps clients feel understood, supported, and connected throughout the recovery process. Peer Recovery Specialists use their lived experience to provide encouragement, mentorship, coping skills, recovery planning support, assistance connecting with resources and support meetings, and guidance in building healthy routines and long-term recovery support systems. - 13At Untethered Recovery, spiritually-focused treatment means supporting the whole person — including emotional, mental, relational, and personal growth — as part of the healing and recovery process. Our approach is not tied to any specific religion, and clients are never pressured to adopt particular beliefs or practices. We welcome individuals from all religious backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, and nonreligious perspectives. Depending on each client’s interests and needs, spiritually-focused services may include mindfulness practices, meditation, prayer, grounding exercises, values exploration, creative expression, connection with nature, and other holistic approaches that support mental health, healing, and long-term recovery.
