Portia is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Addictions Counselor and Certified Recovery and Mental Health Nutritionist committed to helping her clients learn how to support recovery and stable mental health by addressing the forgotten “third leg of the recovery stool”. Her work with clients focuses on this “third leg” by identifying and addressing the biochemical and nutritional deficiencies that drive addiction and mental health challenges.
Portia strongly believes in helping clients navigate their relationship with “real food” and targeted nutritional supplements and educating about the role they play in a successful Recovery and Mental Health Wellness Journey. She believes in being a collaborative, honest and supportive partner to her clients on the oftentimes complex Biochemical Recovery and Wellness Journey.
Because of lessons learned on her own personal journey through addiction and mental health, Portia employs empathy, authenticity and the critical understanding of a root cause approach to healing using Mind, Body and Spirit interventions.
Portia has worked in the field of addictions and mental health for almost 20 years in inpatient, outpatient and private practice settings. “I have worked in both traditional and holistic recovery/mental health settings and the difference is remarkable. When a client integrates the “third leg of the recovery stool” they can handle life’s challenges more gracefully and access their recovery tools more consistently. I am passionate about continuing to educate the Recovery community about the lifechanging power of Pro-Recovery foods, targeted Amino Acid supplements and Biochemical/Nutritional interventions. I aim to help clients reconnect with themselves and regain a sense of empowerment in their Recovery.
To practice her own self-care and stay connected to her true self, Portia enjoys spending time mountain biking, skiing and hiking with her family and friends. She also loves practicing yoga, reading and creating new and delicious Pro Recovery meals. She strives to be a lifelong learner and is always seeking new opportunities to grow her clinical skills!
