Richie Nye

Residential House Manager / Peer Recovery Specialist

Richie serves as Untethered Recovery's StepUp! House Manager and is an Advanced Peer Recovery Specialist (APRS). He is currently preparing to earn his Certified Peer Support Specialist – Family credential and his Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA) certification.

With more than 30 years of lived experience, Richie brings hard-earned wisdom, accountability, and authenticity to the individuals he supports. He believes his own recovery stays strong through service, and helping others keeps recovery fresh in his mind every day. For Richie, recovery isn't just something he talks about—it's something he actively lives.

Richie is passionate about helping people understand how their thinking influences their actions. He enjoys helping clients identify unhealthy thought patterns, challenge old beliefs, and develop healthier ways of approaching life. He believes lasting recovery happens when people learn to think differently, not just stop using substances.

His favorite part of the job is watching people grow and transform. Having walked a difficult road himself, Richie finds purpose in helping others who are struggling with many of the same challenges he once faced. Seeing clients gain confidence, stability, and hope reminds him why he does this work.

Richie is known for his direct, no-nonsense approach. He believes accountability is one of the most important ingredients in recovery and isn't afraid to have honest conversations when clients need them. While his style can be tough, it comes from a genuine belief that every person is capable of more than they think. He challenges clients to stop settling for less and start building the life they deserve.

If Richie had to choose a recovery power word, it would be "Determination." He believes recovery requires commitment, perseverance, and the willingness to keep moving forward even when things get difficult. As he often says, "Hard work doesn't guarantee everything, but without it, you get nothing."

Outside of work, Richie enjoys anything automotive, including car shows, working on vehicles, RC cars, and staying active through exercise. Most of his time is dedicated to helping others and supporting the recovery community.

When new clients arrive, Richie wants them to know there is hope. Richie says he points to his 2015 Corvette Stingray and says he can show them a better way and a better life. Recovery isn't easy, but it is always worth it. His goal is to help people see what is possible for themselves and show them that better life can be built one step at a time.
